Trainings in National level for the "Register of the Use of Plant Protection Products (PPP) on the Farm"
8 August 2022
During 18-29 July 2022, 137 agronomists from Regional Agricultural Extension Agency (AREB) and 39 inspectors from National Authority of Veterinary and Plant Protection (NAVPP), nationwide were trained for the "Register of the Use of Plant Protection Products (PPP) on the Farm". The trainings were conducted by Prof. Dr. Shpend Shahini and Prof. Dr. Magdalena Cara.
The farmer register is a tool that helps the process of recording all PPPs used during different phenological phases, guaranteeing the issue of PPP residues in plants. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has decided to register the use of pesticides on farms to protect farmers, their production and the consumers.
The Director of AKVMB, Mr. Roland Meçaj, in the opening speech of the kickoff event underlined the importance of opening the negotiations with the European Union and the work that needs to be done in the agriculture and food safety sector. He emphasized the role of AKVMB in monitoring and controlling the completion of the register, as well as the importance of keeping this register by farmers with a focus on EU requirements for the use of PPPs.
All the participants also did practical training on how to fill out the Farmer's Register. Inspectors and agronomists will serve as trainers for farmers in filling out the register correctly.
Funded by the European Union, the project "Support for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Standards" is being implemented by a group led by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI). The implementing group also includes the Finnish Food Authority, the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Creative Business Solutions (CBS) in Albania.
