Practical Hygiene Training for AKVMB Official Veterinarians at Slaughterhouses

A veterinary public health training programme on slaughterhouse hygiene is now underway through support of the EU funded Food Safety Project.

Dr David Lynch, veterinary expert from Ireland is meeting AKVMB official veterinarians from across Albania to conduct group training exercises where the trainees visit slaughterhouses and carry out hygiene inspections, putting into practice the theoretical training delivered in 2022.

The first phase of training started in Tirana and continued in Lezhe, Shkoder and Diber.  The second phase will cover the remaining districts and will take place at the end of April.  This training is providing  the official veterinarians with the skillsets to regulate  hygiene standards in the slaughterhouses where they already carry out meat inspection official controls in line with EU Regulations. .
