Food Safety Project Video Presentation

5 January 2021

Food safety is a public health priority as it effects everybody in the country. Increased food safety levels require a country to set up robust institutions that can develop and enforce a large number of regulations that are continuously improved. Food law cannot be enforced in full without increased public awareness and good communication between consumers and institutions.

The EU-funded Food Safety Project focuses on all these areas. We are helping Albania to transpose and implement EU standards that will increase protection of human and animal health, animal welfare and plant health.

The project is unique in its agency-to-agency approach in helping Albanian institutions, with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland leading a group of managing organisations. The Finnish Food Authority, the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Creative Business Solutions - Albania are also involved.

Funded by the European Union with 5 million euros, the project started in January 2019 and will end in January 2023.
