17 january 2020

In the latest of a series of activities this week, the Food Safety Project organized a Border Inspection Points Workshop in Tirana.

Participants discussed the current situation of border inspection posts in Albania, alignment with European Union requirements and opportunities for development in Albania in order to achieve the required standards at border crossing points.

The meeting generated interest among inspectors coming from border crossing points of Kakavija, Morinë, Shëngjin, Durrës, Qafë Thana, as well as senior executives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Food Authority.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Michelle Riblet, Human Resources Development expert from Ireland.

Funded by the European Union, the project "Support for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Standards" is being implemented by a group led by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI). The implementing group also includes the Finnish Food Authority, the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Creative Business Solutions (CBS) in Albania.
